September 2022 is going to bring along several significant announcements in the electric vehicle segment in India. Several carmakers including Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Maruti Suzuki as well as Mahindra have aligned huge announcements to set the tone right ahead of the approaching festive season in India. The month also celebrates World EV Day on September 9th.

 

Electric Vehicle sales is picking up pace in the country. From two-wheelers to cars, battery-powered vehicles are becoming the talk of the town, and this is further amplified by the rising costs of petrol/diesel fuel in India, and globally. For the month of September 2022, several carmakers including Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Maruti Suzuki as well as Mahindra have aligned huge announcements that will set the tone in the EV segment right ahead of the approaching festive season in India. Here's a list of the top upcoming electric cars in India in September 2022.



Upcoming electric cars in India this month:

 

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Mercedes-Benz India recently announced the launch of the new EQS AMG, and now the company will introduce the new 580 variant of the flagship EV which is likely to go on sale in the second half of September. The car will be assembled locally in India at the company's factory in Chakan, Pune. This model will then be followed by the EQB which will be announced in the later part of this year. The upcoming EQS 580 features a 107.8kWh battery pack and sources power from twin electric motors rated to deliver a combined power output of 523bhp and 856Nm of torque. As per official claims, the car is capable of returning a full charge range of 770km on a single charge.



Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: After showcasing the car previously in August, the Japanese auto giant will announce the launch of the fully hybrid Urban Cruiser Hyryder electric SUV in the country later in September. This will come out to be the first-in-segment HEV model which will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will come out as a co-developed offering from Toyota-Suzuki partnership. The company is aiming to attract buyers with its claimed 27.97 km/l of fuel economy which is also the best in segment.

 


Mahindra XUV 400 electric: Mahindra & Mahindra will announce the new XUV400 electric SUV on September 8th. This is only going to be a reveal event, while the prices may be announced later this year or next year. More details on the SUV will be made public in the next few days. It will set sight on cars such as Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV. Meanwhile, only recently 
Tata Motors has launched the #JET edition of its Nexon EV in the country.
